WEST HALL CARE HOME
This 117 bed new-build care home is Anchor Trust’s test flagship property. Vision’s leading product brand, Whitakers, worked closely with the client, architects and contractors to assist in the specification, supply and installation of the soft furnishings, artwork, accessories and linens. The brief was to create a modern high-quality care home, unique in appearance and state-of-the-art facilities. Vibrant accent colours were used to maximise the incorporation of the DDA guidelines and to create a feeling of light and spaciousness with a very contemporary look. This involved sourcing the right style of furniture and fabrics for the project.
Since completing the work at West Hall Care Home they became a finalist in the 2013 Pinders Design Awards for the Large New Build category.
MCGOFF & BYRNE
With 84 en-suite rooms, expansive internal wandering space and dedicated communal drawing rooms, the brief was to make a “true home for life” for general nursing and dementia care. Situated in the heart of Cheshire, we wanted to steer away from the bright, brash, primary colours often seen in care homes nowadays, whilst still ensuring DDA guidelines were met and followed the advice of the Dementia Services Development Centre at the University of Stirling. Every item was selected based on being practical and fit for purpose from round-edged furniture, to flame-retardant fabric through to double mounted, heat sealed artwork.
“Having met with Whitakers, I knew that I could work well with them. They listened to the brief and fully understood the need to ensure Allingham House was not “just another care home” and they provided so much more than just being a supplier. Their level of service and attention to detail gives that added value that is not generally available from similar companies.” Katie McGoff – McGoff & Byrne
